Over the years, Bansdroni Hridhi has embarked on numerous impactful initiatives aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable and underprivileged individuals across West Bengal. Our mission-driven approach has led us to successfully undertake projects that uplift communities and provide essential support to those in need, particularly focusing on vulnerable and orphaned children, as well as uncared elderly persons. Our initiatives are fuelled by compassion and a profound commitment to creating lasting positive impacts in our society. Through these efforts, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing adversity and ensure a brighter future for all.

Here, we present a detailed year-by-year overview of our impactful initiatives and the successful projects we have completed, aiming to bring positive changes to those in need:

Bansdroni Hridhi's Compassionate Initiatives in 2016-17

  1. Visit to Ashiyana Orphanage, Birati: On 24th March 2016, we visited Ashiyana orphanage in Birati, hosting around 120 children aged between 2 to 15 years. We shared snacks and later provided lunch for the children, fostering moments of joy and care in their lives.
  2. Clothing Distribution in Gangajalghati: In July 2016, we travelled to Gangajalghati, a village in Bankura District, and collaborated with the local Gram Panchayat to distribute old clothes among 150 villagers, contributing to their basic needs and well-being.
  3. Supporting Higher Education for Underprivileged Students: We paid the college admission fees for deserving students from economically challenged backgrounds who excelled in the Higher Secondary Exams. The beneficiaries included students admitted to prominent colleges like Ananda Chandra College, Barjora College, Belur Ramakrishna Mission College, and Christian College.
  4. Health Checkup and Fruit Distribution: On 5th August 2016, we organized a comprehensive health checkup for the 120 of Ashiyana with the help of Dr. Krishnendu Jana, general physician at PG Hospital. Following this, we distributed fruits to the orphan children, who have undergone health checkup.
  5. Financial Aid for Medical Treatment: We demonstrated immense compassion by raising funds amounting to Rs. 1,17,600/- for Chitralekha Haldar, a 3.5-year-old suffering from Beta Thalassemia Major. We handed over the collected funds to her father, enabling her to undergo a successful bone marrow transplant at Dharamshila Hospital.
  6. Winter Relief for the Elderly: Recognizing the needs of the elderly during harsh winters, on 27th December 2016, we distributed woolen garments to aged individuals residing near Dumdum Station, offering warmth and comfort.
  7. Support during Medical Emergencies: Amid medical crises, we extended support to families in distress. We arranged funds for 8-year-old Snigdha Das, who sadly passed away due to Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Our organization assisted in transporting her mortal remains to her home in Malda.
  8. Financial Assistance for Critical Illnesses: We provided financial aid to Mr. Paritosh Saha, father of Ankush Saha, a 5-month-old battling kidney cancer, contributing towards the child’s treatment expenses.
  9. Community Outreach and Relief: We continued our community outreach by distributing new sarees for women, kurta-pyjamas for men, along with old clothes and sweets to slum and street dwellers around Dhakuria Park, Kolkata, on 19th March 2017, extending kindness and support to those in need.

Bansdroni Hridhi's Philanthropic Endeavours in 2017-18

  1. Clothing Distribution in North Bengal: In July 2017, we collaborated with Mr. Saju Talukdar of “Dadagiri” fame from Zee Bangla, who oversees the Bir Birsa Munda Cloth Bank in Demdima, Hatkhola, District – Alipurduar. Together, we distributed old clothes to approximately 5000 tea garden workers in North Bengal, providing essential resources to those in need.
  2. Celebrating Independence Day with Children: On 15th August 2017, we spread joy by distributing fruits and sweets to 176 children in the Children’s Ward at SSKM Hospital, celebrating the spirit of Independence Day with young patients undergoing medical care.
  3. Flood Relief Efforts: In September 2017, we responded to the plight of flood-affected families in Balurghat, Malda, and Jalpaiguri by distributing food, medicine, and clothes to 350 affected families, offering critical relief during a challenging time.
  4. Durga Puja Festivities for the Elderly: As part of our Durga Puja celebrations, a significant festival in Bengal, we distributed new clothes among 120 aged and ailing patients at R.G. Kar Hospital, Barasat Govt. Hospital, and Sambhu Nath Pandit Hospital between 21st to 23rd September 2017, spreading joy and festive cheer among those often neglected by their families.
  5. Medical Support for Cancer Treatment: On 11th October 2017, we arranged Rs. 10,000/- in support of Mrs. Krishna Banerjee from Burdwan, who was undergoing treatment for breast cancer at Tata Cancer Hospital in Mumbai, demonstrating our commitment to assisting individuals battling serious illnesses.
  6. Garment Distribution among Tribal Communities: Continuing our outreach efforts, on 19th October 2017, we distributed woolen and non-woolen garments among 165 tribal people of Sitatoli and Surjyapara in Harishchandrapur, Maldah, contributing to their warmth and comfort during the colder months.
  7. New Year Celebrations and Blanket Distribution: On 7th January 2018, we celebrated the New Year with the residents of TOTOPARA village in Alipurduar district, distributing approximately 120 blankets to support them during the winter season, fostering a sense of community and care.
  8. Women’s Day Health Camp and Awareness Program: On 8th March 2018, to mark International Women’s Day, we organized a successful “Free Health and Dental Checkup Camp” for women in Konkonia village, Malda, Harischandrapur. Additionally, we conducted awareness campaigns on topics like “Cervical Cancer,” “Reproductive Tract Infection (RTI),” and the benefits of using sanitary napkins, distributing free sanitary napkins, toothbrushes, and toothpaste to 333 adolescent girls and women.
  9. Foundation Day Celebration with Underprivileged Children: On 25th March 2018, we celebrated our foundation day with underprivileged children nurtured by “Dakshin Kalikata Sevasram.” We arranged lunch for 75 children and provided them with essential items such as biscuits, cakes, noodles, coconut oil, shampoo, soap, and detergent powder, enhancing their well-being and happiness.

Bansdroni Hridhi's Impactful Initiatives in 2018-19

  1. Awareness Campaign on Women’s Health: On 24th June 2018, we organized a significant awareness campaign focused on “Cervical Cancer,” “Reproductive Tract Infection (RTI),” and the “Benefits of using Sanitary Napkins.” This campaign was conducted in Srjyopara, Shikatuli, and Bhuna villages in Malda. We distributed free sanitary napkins to 320 adolescent girls and women, thereby promoting menstrual hygiene and health awareness.
  2. Community Support through Clothing and Supplies Distribution: On 19th July 2018, we distributed old usable clothes to 450 villagers residing in the Closed Hantapara Tea Garden area. Additionally, our organization extended support to 86 children from the same locality by distributing essential items such as exercise books, pens, pencils, cakes, biscuits, and chocolates, ensuring their basic needs were met.
  3. Financial Assistance for Medical Treatment: On 9th August 2018, we contributed Rs. 15,000 towards the cardiological treatment of Mr. Amal Kumar Dey, facilitating essential healthcare services for individuals in need.
  4. Blood Donation Camp and Awareness Drive: On 26th August 2018, we organized a blood donation camp at Udayan Club Premises in Bikramgarh. A commendable total of 54 donors participated in this noble cause. Alongside the blood donation initiative, we conducted an awareness campaign on critical health issues such as cancer awareness, water conservation, and protection of childhood, enlightening the community on vital topics for holistic well-being.
  5. Support for Immunocompromised Children: Our organization continued its humanitarian efforts by distributing new garments to 42 children living with HIV/AIDS at Barasat District Hospital on 29th September 2018. We also provided lunch, extending care and compassion to these vulnerable individuals.
  6. Extended Aid to Children in Various Districts: On subsequent dates – 6th October 2018 and 03rd November 2018, we extended our support to Immunocompromised children across South 24 Parganas, Kolkata, Bankura, and Purulia districts. We distributed new garments and organized meals for 114 children in Bikramgarh and 72 children in Bankura, ensuring their basic needs were met.
  7. Community Engagement and Recreation for Underprivileged Children: On 13th January 2019, we celebrated a day out with 30 underprivileged children and 11 differently-abled children. Our organization distributed woolen garments, organized sports activities, and provided nutritious meals, fostering joy and inclusivity among these children.
  8. Community Outreach and Educational Initiatives: On the eve of our 3rd anniversary (24th March 2019), we expanded our outreach by distributing 50 new bed sheets among pavement dwellers. We also engaged in educational campaigns at various railway stations, raising awareness on “Body Donation” and “Cancer.”
  9. Nutritional Support, Advocacy for Body/Organ Donation and Other Long-Term Commitments: On that very day, the 24th of March 2019, on the eve of our 3rd anniversary, we committed to providing monthly nutritional support for orphan immunocompromised children from various districts of West Bengal. This support includes essential items such as suji, eggs, fish, meat, soybean, fruits, dal, and badam. Our organization initiated a campaign promoting body/organ donation for the sake of humanity and handed over body donation pledge cards to four donors. We arranged an awareness campaign on “Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS” by Mr. Jagadish Jana, Assistant Director (GIPA), West Bengal State AIDS Control Society, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal, highlighting the importance of HIV/AIDS prevention. Simultaneously, we emphasized the “Benefit of Body Donation” with insights from Mr. Sudipta Saha Ray of Ganadarpan and discussed “Save Water Save Future” with Mr. Samrat Moulick, a noted socialist and solo cyclist. Furthermore, Bansdroni Hridhi proudly published its 1st Souvenir “Hridhi Initiative” on this occasion, marking our commitment to social causes and community welfare.

Bansdroni Hridhi's Community Engagement in 2019-20

  1. Nutritional Support for Immunocompromised Children: To combat malnutrition and boost immunity among immunocompromised children, Bansdroni Hridhi launched a community-based Nutritional Support system. In the first phase, we supported three orphan immunocompromised children from North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas, prioritizing their health and well-being.
  2. Environment Awareness Campaign and Tree Plantation: On 13th April 2019, we conducted an awareness campaign on environmental conservation and distributed saplings among students at Andulia Naba Adarsha Free Primary School, emphasizing the importance of nurturing a sustainable environment.
  3. Contribution to Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund: On 21st May 2019, Bansdroni Hridhi contributed funds to the Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the development of areas affected by Cyclone Foni, extending our support beyond West Bengal to assist in disaster relief efforts.
  4. Blood Donation Camp and Health Check-up: On 16th June 2019, we organized a comprehensive Blood Donation Camp and health check-up at Udayan Club Premises, Bikramgarh. A total of 56 donors generously contributed blood, and we distributed saplings among them to promote environmental awareness. Additionally, free sugar, pressure, pulse check-ups, and ECGs were conducted during the camp.
  5. Awareness Campaign on Health Issues: Alongside the Blood Donation Camp, an extensive awareness campaign was conducted on various health-related topics. Dr. Soumabh Dutta, Superintendent of Sambhunath Pandit Hospital, Kolkata, spoke on “Prevention and control of Diabetes.” Mr. Azar Laskar, a Nutritionist from Abotte India Ltd., discussed “Proper diet for Diabetic persons.” Mr. Jagadish Jana, Assistant Director (GIPA) from West Bengal State AIDS Control Society, addressed “Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS.” Additionally, the importance of blood donation and conservation of drinking water for a safe future were highlighted by experts during this event.
  6. Financial Support for Medical Emergencies: On 16th July 2019, Bansdroni Hridhi provided Rs. 15,000/- to the family member of Mr. Dilip Kumar Das, who suffered from an accidental head injury, ensuring crucial assistance during a time of medical crisis.Similarly, on 16th July 2019, financial aid of Rs. 15,000/- was extended to the family member of Mr. Bishnu Chakraborty, who was battling cancer, offering support towards medical expenses and care.
  7. Awareness Campaign on Environment and Community Clean-up: On14th July 2019, an extensive awareness campaign on environmental conservation was conducted at Azadgarh Daily Market area. Bansdroni Hridhi distributed 250 saplings and 150 eco-friendly bags free of cost, promoting sustainable practices. Additionally, the market area was cleaned as part of our commitment to a cleaner environment.
  8. Awareness Campaign on Water Preservation and Plastic Reduction: On 7th September 2019, an awareness campaign on “Preservation of drinking water and refusal of plastic” was conducted at Gandhi Colony Madhyamik Vidyalaya (HS) in South Kolkata, emphasizing the importance of water conservation and reducing plastic usage for a sustainable future.
  9. Garment Distribution and Support for Immunocompromised Children: Throughout September and October 2019, Bansdroni Hridhi organized multiple initiatives to support Immunocompromised children across various districts: On 7th September 2019, new garments were distributed among 61 children at Barasat District Hospital, North 24 Parganas. Lunch was provided to these children and their parents / caregivers, along with distributing lunch packets among patient party of Barasat District Hospital and street dwellers in Barasat city. On 21st September 2019, 114 children in South 24 Parganas and Kolkata districts received new garments at Bikramgarh, accompanied by lunch for the children and their caregivers. On 29th September 2019, 56 children from Nadia district were provided with new garments at Krishnagar, with lunch arrangements for the children and their families. On 19th October 2019, 72 children from Bankura and Purulia districts received new garments at Bankura, accompanied by lunch for the children and their caregivers.
  10. Relief Distribution in Flood-Affected Areas: On 20th October 2019, our team swiftly responded to the needs of approximately 1350 flood-affected individuals in Ratua, Malda. We distributed vital relief materials and sprayed bleaching powder in the affected area to prevent the spread of unknown fevers, ensuring the health and safety of those impacted by the disaster.
  11. Children’s Day and World AIDS Day Celebration: In honour of Children’s Day and World AIDS Day, on 24th November 2019, we organized a special event for 63 immunocompromised children in East Midnapur districts. We distributed new garments and provided lunch to these young patients and their caregivers, spreading joy and support within the community.
  12. Community Support in Chandipur Village, South 24 Parganas: On 22nd December 2019, our team visited Chandipur, a severely underdeveloped village where most residents live below the poverty line. recognizing the dire need for basic necessities, we distributed: Blankets (50), Tarpaulin Sheets (25), Woollen Clothes (60), Cots (2). Additionally, we provided old reusable clothes and blankets to underprivileged villagers, aiming to improve their living conditions and offer warmth during the winter months.
  13. Free Medical and Dental Health Camp: As part of our ongoing commitment to community health, we conducted a free medical and dental health camp in Chandipur. Approximately 100 patients received thorough examinations, and free medicines were distributed to those in need. This initiative reflects our dedication to providing essential healthcare services and supporting the overall well-being of underserved communities.
  14. Community Support in Chandipur Village, South 24 Parganas: On 9th February 2020, our team revisited Chandipur village to extend further assistance. We distributed essential educational materials, including exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers, and sharpeners, to 100 underprivileged students, ensuring they can continue their education. Additionally, we provided new blankets to 18 needy villagers and distributed old but usable clothes to those in need. A health camp was conducted, offering free medical consultations and distributing medicines to 60 villagers. Furthermore, a counselling session on general health and hygiene was organized, benefitting 42-50 villagers.
  15. COVID-19 Relief Efforts: Amid the global COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown in India starting from 25th March 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi recognized the acute challenges faced by vulnerable communities, particularly those living below the poverty line. In response, we launched critical relief initiatives: Providing Food to Homeless Individuals – From 28th March to 31st March 2020, we provided lunch to 110 pavement dwellers in Jadavpur station, Baghajatin, and Ramgarh areas, ensuring that those without regular access to food were supported during these challenging times. Breakfast Distribution at Govt. Night Shelter – On 28th March 2020, we distributed breakfast to 30 people at a government night shelter for street dwellers operated by ‘Mitali Mohila Sangho’ near Jadavpur station. This initiative continued for 5 days, offering essential meals to those in need.

Bansdroni Hridhi's Impactful Initiatives in 2020-21

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our members and volunteers from Kolkata, Malda, Cooch Behar, Purba Chandipur, Bansdroni, and many kind supporters, we successfully carried out relief work on short notice. Starting from March 28, 2020, we distributed relief aid to unemployed individuals, migrant workers, small-scale businessmen, beggars, neglected elderly persons, people with disabilities, and those living on the streets in five districts of West Bengal. Bansdroni Hridhi has given food and essential items to a total of 6837 people in Kolkata, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Malda, and Cooch Behar. We extend our gratitude to our members and volunteers from the Purba Chandipur unit, as well as all our supporters and the “Koshish Covid 19” initiative during the COVID-19 lockdown.

  1. Kolkata COVID Lockdown Relief Distribution:
  • From 28th March 2020 to 8th June 2020, spanning 73 days, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed a total of 1818 lunch packets to vulnerable groups in Jadavpur Station, Baghajatin, and Ramgarh areas. These included the homeless, differently-abled individuals, mentally and physically disabled persons, and uncared-for elderly individuals, ensuring they received essential meals during the lockdown period.
  • Throughout the COVID lockdown from 26th April 2020, we supported Mr. Subrata Ghosh, an Uber driver residing in South 24 Parganas, and his family of six members. We provided rice, dal, potatoes, oil, soyabean, salt, soap, and baby food for their 11-month-old daughter.
  • Mintu Haroa, a worker in a hosiery company in South Kolkata, lost his job due to the pandemic. From 26th April 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi supported his family of eleven members with essential food items and supplies.
  • We extended similar support to Mr. Santu Das, a computer mechanic, and his family, as well as Ms. Roy Chowdhury, whose only son is currently unemployed. We provided them with rice, dal, vegetables, oil, soyabean, salt, soap, and necessary medicines during the lockdown period.
  • On 2nd May 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi rescued a Swamiji (holy man) and his disciple from Bharat Sevasram Sangha at Jadavpur Station. With the help of government authorities, local police, GRPF, and Mitali Mohila Samiti member, we arranged accommodation for them at a night shelter in Kasba for their safety and well-being during the lockdown.
  • In August 2020, we arranged Rs. 15,000 for 18-year-old Ms. Poulomi Manna, who is suffering from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This financial support aimed to assist her in accessing necessary medical treatment and care.
  1. North 24 Parganas COVID Lockdown Relief Distribution: Amid the COVID-19 lockdown, Bansdroni Hridhi provided crucial support to Miss. Subhasree Saha, a teenage orphan girl residing in Barasat, North 24 Parganas. On 2nd May 2020, we extended assistance by providing essential items including rice, dal, potatoes, onions, oil, soyabean, salt, soap, and sanitary napkins to this orphan girl. Our aim was to ensure that Miss. Subhasree Saha had access to basic necessities and support during this challenging period.
  2. Malda COVID Lockdown Relief Distribution:Amid the economic hardships caused by the COVID-19 lockdown, Bansdroni Hridhi took proactive steps to assist individuals and families in need across various areas of Malda district:
  • On 22nd April 2020, we distributed 50 bags of ration to residents of Old Hatkhola, Kaligram, Madhyapara, Barogachia, Amlapara, Paharpur, Nayatola, Umarpur, Khelenpur, Shihipur, DakshinSahor, Boirigachi, Haripara, Dhania Potti, Malcha under Chanchal–I block. These recipients included rickshaw pullers, small shopkeepers, factory workers, daily labourers, and maid servants who had lost their livelihoods due to the lockdown.
  • On 27th and 28th April 2020, we extended support by distributing 50 bags of ration at Kanua, Muchipara, Kalahandi, Joy Bangla, Khulial, Adhibashipara of Chanchal–I block. The beneficiaries primarily consisted of migrated labourers, maid servants, beggars, small shop owners, and members of tribal communities.
  • On 9th and 10th May 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed 50 ration bags to residents of Sihipur, Alsiyatola, Panpara, Adibashi Para under Chanchol–I block. The recipients included cobblers, daily labourers, hawkers, maid servants, shopkeepers, and fishermen, all of whom were struggling due to the loss of income during the lockdown.
  1. Cooch Behar COVID Lockdown Relief Distribution: On 16th May 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi carried out a vital relief distribution initiative in Shitalkuchi block of Cooch Behar district. We distributed 30 bags of ration supplies to homeless elderly individuals, families of migrated labourers, and a blind person. The provision of essential ration supplies was aimed at assisting those who were severely affected by the COVID-19 lockdown, including vulnerable elderly individuals, families facing economic challenges due to migration, and persons with disabilities such as blindness.
  2. South 24 Parganas COVID Lockdown Relief Distribution:
  • On 3rd May 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed 25 ration bags at Purba Chandipur, Halisahor, Sardarpara, Kacharipara, Shilpi Palli, Bhulo Para under Bapuji Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station of Kakdwip block. The relief was provided to jobless daily labourers, shopkeepers, fishermen, and their families.
  • On 6th May 2020, 25 ration bags were distributed at Purba Chandipur, Halisahor, Sardarpara, Kacharipara, Shilpi Palli, Bhulo Para, Khamarupara under Bapuji Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station of Kakdwip block. The distribution targeted jobless daily labourers, small shopkeepers, fishermen, theatre actors, small-time singers, and their respective families.
  • On 10th May 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed 32 ration bags at Ghatapara, Kacharipara, Chhoto Boidyapur, School Para under Bapuji Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station of Kakdwip block. The relief was provided to jobless daily labourers, small shopkeepers, fishermen, tailors, maid servants, and volunteers along with their families.
  • On 15th May 2020, 20 ration bags were handed out at Ganeshpur Tritio Gheri near Kakdwip station, an area predominantly dependent on fishing and daily labour for livelihood.
  • On 17th May 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed 26 bags of ration at Boidyapur Cristhan Para, Kamarchawak, Ramnagar, Madanmohonpur under Baburmall GramPanchayat & Kulpi Police Station. The relief was provided to elderly parents of migrated labourers, physically challenged individuals, and elderly widows.

During these relief distributions, Bansdroni Hridhi provided essential items such as rice, masoor dal, potatoes, salt, soyabean, soap, and mustard oil to families in need. Each family received relief supplies to sustain them for a minimum of 4 days, considering an estimated minimum of 4 members per family.

  1. Amphan Relief of Bansdroni Hridhi:
  • We assisted the people of South Bengal affected by the powerful cyclone Amphan. Bansdroni Hridhi, with support from our friends and well-wishers, initiated relief efforts in Kakdwip and Kulpi Block of South 24 Parganas on May 20, 2020. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our members and volunteers from Purba Chandipur and the entire Bansdroni Hridhi community, along with several well-wishers, we were able to provide relief swiftly.
  • We arranged four shelters at the homes of our dedicated volunteers, along with establishing a community kitchen. This initiative aimed to provide safe accommodations and meals for the affected villagers during the cyclone period. Bansdroni Hridhi arranged and distributed food for 24 families (approximately 96 people) for three days, from 20th May 2020 to 22nd May 2020. This equated to providing support for a total of 288 individuals from Purba Chandipur village under Bapuji Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station in Kakdwip block of South 24 Parganas.
  • Ration Bags Distribution: On 21st May 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed ration bags among 50 underprivileged families residing in Baro Halisahor, Niogipara, Kandarpara, Schoolpara, and roadside dwellers under Bapuji Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station in Kakdwip block of South 24 Parganas. These families, situated along the banks of the Kalnagini river, primarily consisted of migrated labourers and young members seeking livelihood opportunities.
  • Tarpaulin Sheets Distribution (23rd May 2020): Distributed 44 tarpaulin sheets among: a) 22 fishermen families living in slum areas of Ganeshpur Tritio Gheri under Kakdwip block. These families’ houses, constructed with mud, bamboo, and plastic, were completely destroyed by Cyclone Amphan, forcing them to seek shelter near Kakdwip railway station. b) 22 families in Halisahor, Bhulopara & Shilpipally under Bapuji Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station. The distribution of tarpaulin sheets aimed to provide immediate shelter and protection against the elements.
  • Additional Tarpaulin Sheets Distribution (28th May 2020): On 28th May 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi continued its relief efforts by distributing 22 additional tarpaulin sheets among elderly and uncared-for individuals belonging to families of migrated labourers in Mirpara, Jelepara, and Chhoto Halisahor under Bapuji Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station. This initiative addressed the urgent need for shelter and protection among vulnerable community members.
  • Ration Supplies Distribution (29th May 2020): On 29th May 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed a total of 50 bags of ration supplies to:
  1. 20 fishermen families residing in slum areas of Ganeshpur Tritio Gheri under Kakdwip block. These families, whose houses were predominantly made of mud, bamboo, and plastic, were severely affected by Cyclone Amphan, forcing them to seek refuge near Kakdwip railway station.
  2. 30 families of Khacharipara, Khamarupara, including 10 dedicated volunteers of Bansdroni Hridhi under Bapuji Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station. This distribution aimed to provide essential support to families and volunteers affected by the cyclone.
  • Ration Supplies and Tarpaulin Sheets Distribution (31st May 2020): On 31st May 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed 50 bags of ration supplies and 30 tarpaulin sheets in 16 No. Digambori Bazar, Taranagar, Samantapara, Fuleshwari Geri, Chhoyer Gheri under Purna Chandrapur Gram Panchayat & Dhola Police Station of Pathor Pratima block. These areas, known for activities like boat repairing, fishery, net stitching, and poultry farming, suffered severe damage from Cyclone Amphan due to their proximity to the coastal area of Eastern Sundarbans.
  • Further Relief Distribution (3rd June 2020): Relief efforts continued on 3rd June 2020 at Ramkrishnar Chawak & Purba Guriyar Chawak under Bapuji Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station in Kakdwip block. Bansdroni Hridhi distributed 25 bags of ration supplies and 23 tarpaulin sheets among elderly people from migrated labour families, homeless individuals, beggars, Amphan-affected farmers, and fishermen of these areas.
  • Additional Relief Distribution (6th June 2020): On 6th June 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi provided 30 bags of ration supplies and 14 tarpaulin sheets to the Amphan-affected residents of Mirpara under Bapuji Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station in Kakdwip block. The majority of Mirpara residents work as tailors in Domjur, Howrah.
  • Distribution at Purba Chandipur Village (8th June 2020): On 8th June 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed 10 bags of ration supplies among our dedicated volunteers in Purba Chandipur village under Bapuji Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station in Kakdwip block. The relief efforts extended to Dighirpar under Keoratala Gram Panchayat & Kulpi Police Station in Kulpi block on 9th June 2020. A total of 30 bags of ration supplies and 12 tarpaulin sheets were distributed among cyclone-affected poor villagers, predominantly dependent on fishery for their livelihood. The cyclone’s impact contaminated their fisheries with salty water, leading to severe losses.
  • Continued Relief Distribution (10th June 2020 – 2nd July 2020): From 10th June 2020 to 2nd July 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed 40 bags of ration supplies and 8 tarpaulin sheets among underprivileged individuals in nearby villages, beggars, differently-abled people, and dedicated volunteers of Bansdroni Hridhi in Kakdwip block.
  • Collaborative Efforts with “Webel” (13th June 2020 and 23rd June 2020): On 13th June 2020, 85 bags of ration supplies and 85 tarpaulin sheets were distributed among poor and underprivileged villagers of Purba Chandipur and its adjacent 20 villages under Bapuji Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station in Kakdwip block. On 23rd June 2020, 100 bags of ration supplies and 50 tarpaulin sheets were distributed among poor and underprivileged villagers of Hare Krishnapur village under Gram Gopalnagar Gram Panchayat in Pathor Pratima block.
  • Collaborative Distribution with “Pukar Charitable Trust” (4th July 2020): On 4th July 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed 60 bags of ration supplies, along with sarees and Hawai slippers, among underprivileged and uncared-for female residents of Purba Chandipur and its adjacent 20 villages under Bapuji & Baburmall Gram Panchayat & Hardwood Point Coastal Police Station in Kakdwip block.

In response to the needs of the affected communities, we distributed essential supplies such as rice, lentils, potatoes, salt, soybeans, soap, and mustard oil in the aftermath of Cyclone Amphan. Recognizing an average of 4 members per family, we provided relief packages to these families over a span of 4 days to address their immediate requirements. Bansdroni Hridhi provided food and essential items to 10,976 people and distributed tarpaulins to 288 families in South 24 Parganas. We are thankful to our members, supporters including “Koshish”, “Webel”, and “Pukar Charitable Trust”, as well as the members and volunteers of the Purba Chandipur unit for their invaluable support during the relief work.

  1. Nutritional Support Scheme for Orphan Immunocompromised Children: The ‘Nutritional Support’ scheme initiated by Bansdroni Hridhi since 1st April 2019 has expanded to cater to 7 orphan immunocompromised children from 6 different districts of West Bengal. This ongoing project provides crucial monthly nutritional assistance to vulnerable children, ensuring their health and well-being.
  2. Distribution of Masks and Sanitizers in Kalighat and Rashbehari: Bansdroni Hridhi distributed masks and sanitizers among street children and residents of slums in Kalighat and Rashbehari areas of South Kolkata, contributing to COVID-19 preventive measures and community health.
  3. Community Outreach in Karunamoyee Slum, Salt Lake: On 12th & 16th October 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi extended support to 49 street children and 45 families in the Karunamoyee slum of Salt Lake. The organization distributed new dresses, lunch (including fried rice, chicken kosha, and sweets), mosquito nets, free sanitizers, and masks, prioritizing the well-being of vulnerable individuals.
  4. Support for Roadway Children at Howrah Station: On 17th October 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed new dresses, masks, and sanitizers among 49 roadway children in the Howrah station area. Additionally, the organization arranged a nutritious lunch comprising rice, dal, aloo vaji, mutton, chatni, and rasgulla for these children, ensuring their basic needs are met.
  5. Ration Kit Distribution in Dighirpar Village, South 24 Parganas: Bansdroni Hridhi provided essential ration kits, including rice, dal, haldi, mustard oil, salt, washing powder, bath soap, and shampoo, to 50 underprivileged families residing in Dighirpar (Majherpara) village under the Kulpi block of South 24 Parganas district, alleviating food insecurity during challenging times.
  6. Empowering Tribal Children in ‘KATLAMARI’ Village, Malda: On 23rd October 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed new dresses among 66 tribal children at ‘KATLAMARI’ village under Chanchal – II block of Malda district. Additionally, the organization organized a nutritious lunch featuring rice, dal, aloo vaji, vegetable curry, chicken, chatni, doi, and misti for the tribal children and their mothers, fostering community well-being and support.
  7. Supporting Elderly Residents of Old Age Homes:Bansdroni Hridhi arranged special lunches for elderly residents of old age homes, ensuring they receive nutritious meals and care:
  8. On 24th October 2020, lunch comprising rice, dal, beguni, paneer kofta, chatni, doi, and misti was provided for 25 residents of an old age home in Baguiati.
  9. Similarly, on the same day, Bansdroni Hridhi arranged lunch with rice, dal, aloo vaji, mixed vegetables, chicken, chatni, and misti for 40 residents of an old age home in Kashba, South Kolkata.
  10. Combatting Dengue and Malaria:Bansdroni Hridhi took proactive measures to prevent and control diseases like Dengue and Malaria by distributing essential resources:

  12. 50 kg of bleaching powder was spread across various locations in Purba Chandipur village, safeguarding the community against vector-borne illnesses.
  13. Heart Operation Support for Arpan Dutta: On 20th November 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi demonstrated compassion by providing a significant financial contribution. A cheque amounting to Rs. 15,000.00 was handed over to support the heart operation of 7-month-old Arpan Dutta from South 24 Parganas, ensuring access to life-saving medical care.

Old Age Home Lunch at Uchhepota, Sonarpur: BansdroniHridhi extended its support further by organizing a lavish lunch on 14th November 2020 for 40 elderly residents of an old age home in Uchhepota, Sonarpur. The meal included rice, dal, aloo vaji, foolkopi, chicken, chatni, doi, misti, and cold drinks, enhancing the well-being of the elderly.
  15. Empowering Tribal Children and Elderly Women in Katlamari Village, Malda: On 22nd November 2020, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed essential items and organized a special lunch for the tribal community of Katlamari village:
  16. Distributed woollen garments, exercise books, pencils, erasers, etc., among 53 tribal children and 5 uncared-for elderly women.
  17. Arranged a hearty lunch for 100 tribal children and elderly individuals, fostering community bonding and support in Khempur Gram Panchayat of Chachal – II block, Malda district.

Granting Last Wishes through Medical Support: Bansdroni Hridhi fulfilled the final wishes of Mrs. Anjali Devi (name changed) by disbursing essential medicines commonly used for cancer patients under the supervision of Dr. Suranjan Maitra on 15th January 2021, ensuring compassionate end-of-life care.
  19. Community Outreach in Pukuria Village, South 24 Parganas:On 14th February 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi organized a thoughtful event in Pukuria village, South 24 Parganas district:

  21. Distributed 17 blankets to elderly residents, offering warmth and comfort during the winter months.
  22. Celebrating Joy and Compassion at Joy Bangla Village, Malda: Bansdroni Hridhi continued its celebration of compassion by marking a special occasion. On 21st March 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi hosted a lunch for 103 children and elderly persons at Joy Bangla village, Alihonda Gram Panchayat, Malda district, commemorating a joyful milestone and spreading happiness.

Bansdroni Hridhi's Impactful Initiatives in 2021-2022

  1. Nutritional Support for Orphaned Children and Uncared Elderly: Bansdroni Hridhi provided vital nutritional support to orphan immunocompromised children, along with uncared elderly individuals across multiple districts. From April 2021 to December 2021, nutritional support amounting to Rs. 2000 each was extended to 7 orphaned and immunocompromised children, and 3 uncared elderly people in districts including North & South 24 Parganas, Nadia, Malda, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and Uttar Dinajpur.
  2. Fulfilling the Last Wish of Cancer-Stricken Anjali Debi: Honouring the last wishes of Anjali Debi (name changed), who battled cancer, her son generously donated her medicines for those in need. Under the guidance of cancer specialist Dr. Suranjan Maitra from R. G. Kar Hospital, these medicines were donated to Mina Debi Shaw and Jatan Bala Bawali, both breast cancer patients, offering critical support to vulnerable individuals in their medical journey.
  3. Community Awareness and Support Amidst Crisis: Bansdroni Hridhi actively engaged in community outreach and support during the crisis period. Regular notifications and updates were shared on social media platforms, including Facebook, providing essential information on mask usage, sanitization practices, oxygen-related insights, and contact details of doctors, hospitals, nursing homes, and helpline numbers. This effort aimed to empower individuals with crucial resources and guidance during challenging times.
  4. Conducting Awareness Campaigns and Distributing Essentials: An extensive awareness campaign was organized to promote public health and safety. On 27th and 29th April 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi conducted an awareness drive from Garia market to Ranikuthi, Jadavpur Bazaar, bus stands, and railway stations. Surgical masks and sanitizers were distributed among community members, emphasizing the importance of preventive measures and hygiene practices.
  5. Community Health Support Amidst COVID-19: On 1st May 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed masks and sanitizers in the third phase, benefiting commoners across areas from Jadavpur to Garia and Garia to Tollygunge. This effort aimed to enhance public health awareness and encourage preventive measures during the pandemic.
  6. Extensive Awareness Campaigns and Essential Distribution: An awareness campaign was conducted on 12th May 2021 at multiple locations including Baghajatin, Ramgarh, Bijoygarh, Pallisree, Bansdroni, Garia, and Jadavpur. Masks and sanitizers were distributed extensively to promote safety protocols and hygiene practices among the community.
  7. Support for COVID-Affected Families: From 14th May to 8th June 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi provided free lunch and dinner to families affected by COVID-19 in areas like Jadabpur, Dhakuria, Bikramgarh, Bijoygarh, Mukundapur, Naktola, and Mothertola Bosti. This humanitarian aid aimed to alleviate the burden faced by affected families during challenging times.
  8. ‘Anna Satra’ Initiative for Vulnerable Communities: Starting from 15th May 2021 to 30th June 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi launched the ‘Anna Satra’ program, offering free meals to vulnerable groups impacted by the lockdown. Street dwellers, rickshaw pullers, daily wage earners, bus-auto-van drivers, and others who lost livelihoods due to the lockdown were served free meals, benefiting approximately 4494 individuals. The distribution covered areas around Jadavpur station and adjoining locations, as well as the Gobindapur slum in Lake Gardens, South Kolkata.
  9. Relief Efforts for Cyclone-Affected Communities: On 9th June 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi extended support to Yash cyclone-affected communities in Ramtanu Nagar, Krishnachandrapur, and Chakdulalpur villages under Kulpi Block of South 24 Parganas. Dry food items including rice, pulses, oil, salt, condiments, soyabean, puffed rice, and molasses were distributed to assist those impacted by the cyclone, facilitated by the collaborative efforts of Bansdroni Hridhi and employees of Webel.
  10. Community Engagement and CSR Collaboration: On 13th June, in collaboration with Canara Bank, Bansdroni Hridhi embarked on a significant initiative by distributing lunch among 500 individuals residing in the Gobindapur slums. This milestone marked their first Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project. In addition to providing meals, free masks were also distributed, underscoring their commitment to community welfare and health promotion.

Relief Distribution in Malda District: On 18th July, Bansdroni Hridhi extended support to 54 distressed families in Joy Bangla, Panpara Adibashi Gram, and Vestpatty villages of Chanchal-1 block in the Malda district. Dry food items including rice, pulses, oil, salt, puffed rice, potatoes, soybean, and sugar were distributed, aiming to alleviate food insecurity and provide essential sustenance to vulnerable households.
  12. Compassionate Engagement with Elderly Inmates: On 31st August, Bansdroni Hridhi organized a heartwarming lunch event for 47 elderly residents of the Kasba Divine Foundation. This initiative provided an opportunity to share quality time and show care and compassion towards neglected elderly individuals, fostering a sense of community and support.
  13. Support for Funeral Arrangements: On 9th September 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi extended financial assistance of Rs. 3000 to Mr. Nani Gopal Bera to support funeral arrangements for his father. This gesture exemplifies their commitment to providing assistance and support during challenging times.
  14. Meaningful Interaction with Elderly Residents: On 18th September 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi organized another touching lunch event, this time for 38 residents of Ramthakur Bridhabas. This initiative aimed to bring joy and companionship to elderly individuals who often feel neglected, reinforcing the organization’s dedication to holistic community care.
  15. Empowering Slum Children through Clothing and Nutrition: On 7th October 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed new clothing and lunch among 60 street children residing in the slum of Karunamoyee at Salt Lake City. This initiative not only provided essential items but also instilled a sense of dignity and hope among underprivileged children, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young lives.
  16. Empowering Orphan Children with Clothing and Nutrition: On 12th October 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi collaborated with the 6th Battalion Arm Force Police, Barrackpore, to distribute new clothing and lunch among 47 orphaned children from Lalbaba Ashram, Belur, and Falta Sishu Bhawan. This initiative aimed to provide essential items and nourishment to vulnerable children, emphasizing care and support for the underprivileged.
  17. Relief Efforts for Flood-Affected Villages: On 30th October 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi extended flood relief assistance to Ururi village in Bhagabanpur block – 2 under Radhapur Gram Panchayat of Purba Medinipur. Essential supplies including potatoes, pulses, oil, soybeans, and spices were distributed among 175 families affected by the floods. This intervention played a crucial role in alleviating the immediate needs of flood-stricken communities.
  18. CSR Project for Elderly Residents: On 19th November 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi reached another milestone by collaborating with Canara Bank to distribute blankets among 50 neglected elderly individuals residing in the slum of Gobindapur in Lake Gardens. This initiative, serving as the NGO’s second CSR project, aimed to provide warmth and comfort to elderly community members during the winter season.

Supporting Mentally Challenged Individuals with Compassionate Care: On 25th November 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi organized a special lunch distribution for 50 mentally challenged individuals residing at Swadhar Greho in Garia, Boral. Empowering Mentally Challenged Individuals with Care and Entertainment: On 18th December 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed lunch among 50 mentally challenged individuals at Swadhar Greho in Garia, Boral. In addition to providing nourishment, the NGO generously gifted cricket sets, badminton sets, ludo, crayons, drawing books, and carom boards to enhance their entertainment and recreational activities, fostering joy and engagement within the community.

Spreading Joy with Festive Snacks: On 25th December 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi continued their support by distributing snacks among 50 mentally challenged individuals at Swadhar Greh in Garia, Boral.   22. Nourishing Orphaned Children with Love and Care: On 27th December 2021, Bansdroni Hridhi distributed lunch among 48 orphaned children at Saujayta, Kolkata. This initiative aimed to provide essential nutrition and care to vulnerable children, ensuring their well-being and happiness.

Celebrating Milestones and Spreading Happiness: On 23rd March 2022, Bansdroni Hridhi celebrated its 6th birthday by organizing a special event with orphan children at ‘Soujatya’, where they also celebrated the birthday of ‘Antorip’. Health Verification and Support for Rabia: On 18th February 2023, the Bansdroni Hridhi team visited Rabia’s house in Malatipur, North 24 Parganas district, to verify her health condition and overall situation. Rabia, an orphan immunocompromised child, has been receiving nutritional support from Bansdroni Hridhi since 1st April 2019. Health Verification and Support for Riya and Tapan: On 17th March 2023, Bansdroni Hridhi visited Riya and Tapan’s house in Berubari, Jalpaiguri district, to assess their health condition and overall situation. Riya and Tapan, orphan immunocompromised children, have been beneficiaries of Bansdroni Hridhi’s nutritional support since 1st April 2019.
